KALKUS Wacław Stanisław ppor. P 1905 14.6.1922 Warszawa R.A.F. Polish 138 Sqdn. 24.6.1943 Oostzaan, the Netherlands "Nieuwe Ooster Begraafplaats" Amsterdam, the Netherlands 69.B.20. His father was gen. bryg. pil. Władysław Kalkus who greatly contributed to the development of the PAF in the interwar years and WW2. He flew as a pilot in the Polish-Soviet war of 1919-1920; then in the 1930s was the Commander of the 1st Air Regiment. In 1939 he was appointed C-in-C of the PAF and later organized the evacuation of PAF personnel via Romania to France. General Kalkus survived his son's death but died before the end of the war on 23.2.1945 at Blackpool.
