Killed in action during crossing of the Markkanaal near Oosterhout, 
the Netherlands.

In 1940 Prokupczuk M. served in the Russian Army. 
In the surroundings of Odessa he was taken prisoner-of-war 
by the Germans and afterwards he was forced to make 
a choice between serving in the German army or die from starvation. 
In August 1944, when he was in France as a German soldier, he 
succeeded in deserting and afterwards he served in the 1st Polish 
Armoured Division.
