Mieczysław Rutkowski
Regular soldier of Polish Army since 1921. 

Last rank and function: Commisioned Lieutenant Colonel, served as  the 
Commander responsible for Services of the 1st Polish Armoured Division. 

Took part in the 1940 French campaign, then evacuated to United Kingdom.  

He took part in the 1944 Normandy campaign, then taken seriously ill and 
transported to the UK. 

Died on December 15th, 1944 at the Broadgreen Emergency 
Hospital in Liverpool. 

Awarded with: 
Gold Cross of Merit with Swords, France and Germany Star, 
Defence Medal and  War Medal 1939/45.
